Contemporary Christian Education

Lopez Academy coaches kids to win and think well in today's smart world. Our contemporary Christian education makes kids “robot-proof” and “future-ready.”

What’s “Contemporary Christian Education”?

Think Classical Christian Education, but with entrepreneurship, technology, and financial literacy at the center. Contemporary Christian Education keeps the same commitment to truth, virtue, and a biblical worldview — but applies it directly to the world students are actually entering.

Same foundation, different focus.

New One-Room Schoolhouse

Built on the historic one-room schoolhouse model, our schooling is simple, skill-based, and homeschool-friendly. Of course, we’ve updated the schoolhouse model so kids learn marketable entrepreneurial and academic skills in a modern way. A small team of classroom coaches teaches around 20 - 25 kids, creating a community of friends for your kids in a learning environment where kids are supported by Christian leadership.

AI could replace 300 million jobs by 2030. But schools are afraid to teach AI or try anything new — many are stuck in the past, pushing a liberal arts education that doesn’t prepare kids for today. Parents know online schooling could offer more, but they don’t want to leave their child home all day unsupervised.

Our onsite-online teaching brings the global world of online learning to our microschool, where we guide kids through curated online courses in the safety of our classroom and oversight of our teachers and principal.

Freedom To
Learn Well

Lopez Academy does school differently. For us, this means changing how we measure learning and success in school.

No Grades or Tests

Kids are brilliant. In fact, they were learning long before factory schooling introduced grades and standardized tests — systems that just get in the way of real education.

We don’t hand out grades or tests. Instead, parents and teachers evaluate a child’s growth through classroom observations, progress reports, and student work portfolios showing what kids have done in school.

No Homework

“Do school. Kick butt. Go home.”

Our students work hard while they’re here, so we don’t send homework home. Kids are free for family time, church, sports, band, and whatever activities they love.

No Behavior Cards/Charts

Discipline should strengthen students, not shame them. That’s why we use Physical Education as a way to correct behavior. It’s healthy, builds grit, and helps kids realign themselves through push-ups, jumping jacks, sit-ups, and other P.E. exercises.

Rather than afterschool detentions, missed lunches, extra homework, behavior cards that make kids feel bad, or constant calls home that stress them out and ruin your day, a good workout is our disciplinary policy.

Classroom Coaching

We have fun, but we take learning seriously — because sometimes school gets hard, and that’s okay. We teach students to push through, finish strong, and win.

At Lopez Academy, our teachers are coaches at heart. That mindset shapes everything we do. We bring it into the classroom every day.

We Look For Coachability 🏆

We believe kids learn best when they’re coached. That’s why our classroom feels more like a team huddle than a lecture hall.

We Build Champions 🥇

Every day is designed to develop winners. We walk with kids to meet them where they are, developing students into champions.

We Set High Expectations 🎯

Great coaches don’t lower the bar — they equip kids to clear it.

We Celebrate Wins — Big and Small 🎉

We cheer every victory, from mastering a tough concept to helping a classmate.

We School Like It’s A Sport 🧢

School is a sport, but it isn’t a solo sport. We challenge them to tackle anything that comes their way. So if they’re used to no set schedule or just getting by at an easy school, Lopez Academy might feel like a tough workout at first — like starting a new fitness routine at a really good gym. That’s okay!
