We're looking for sponsors, skilled volunteers, and community partners to help make it happen. Please consider sponsoring one of the following projects:

#1. American Flag

We'd love to install a flagpole with an American flag at the school. We want our kids to love and appreciate our country and its history, and to restore patriotism in our schoolhouses.

#2. Artificial Turf

Front yard turf would be a gamechanger! It would create a cooler and more inviting outdoor space where students can run, play, roll around, exercise, and just enjoy being kids outside.

#3. Basketball Court & Fence

We're hoping to repair our basketball court, which currently has cracked concrete, and adjust the basketball hoop to a standard 10-foot height. This would give students a better place to play games and build friendships. We'd also like to improve our court fencing to provide our kids a safer outdoor area where they can enjoy activities throughout the school day without neighborhood dogs and other pets wandering onto school grounds.

#4. Apprenticeship Hour

One of our biggest goals and most important projects is to introduce daily Apprenticeship Hour, where students learn practical, hands-on skills that are often overlooked in modern education—from using basic tools and making repairs to woodworking, construction, home economics, and more. These skills were once a regular part of American education, helping prepare young people to become capable, independent, and contributing members of society. We'd love to bring that tradition back to Lopez Academy!

We're praying for skilled volunteers who could spend a week sharing their trade, hobby, interests, or expertise with our students. Ideally, each volunteer would help the kids do a small, hands-on project that teaches real-world skills. Here are some examples:

• Build a birdhouse, bookshelf, or wooden bench (Carpentry)

• Build raised garden beds or a small storage shed (Construction)

• Install artificial turf or plant a garden (Landscaping)

• Paint classroom furniture, fences, or outdoor benches (Painting)

• Lay a small brick pathway or build a planter (Masonry)

• Change a tire, check fluids, or detail a vehicle (Automotive)

• Assemble a working PVC water system, practice unclogging a toilet using a simulated plumbing setup, repair a leaky faucet (Plumbing)

• Build a battery-powered lamp or simple circuit (Electrical)

• Make a metal sign or small decorative project (Metalworking)

• Grow vegetables and build an irrigation system (Gardening)

• Prepare a complete meal, including shopping and budgeting (Cooking)

• Sew a tote bag, apron, or repair clothing (Sewing)

• Repair a screen, patch drywall, or replace door hardware (Home Maintenance)

• Build a simple website or program a robot (Technology)

• Create a product, price it, and sell it at a kids market (Entrepreneurship)

• Design and produce school T-shirts or signs (Graphic Design)

• Assemble emergency kits and practice basic first-aid skills (First Aid)

American education lost something very important to a kid’s educational upbringing.
