Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA)

Arizona offers a powerful option for families called ESA. This program allows public education funds to follow your child—meaning you can use those funds toward private education at Lopez Academy.

ESA is available to all families, regardless of income, and is one of the easiest ways to make private school affordable. Most families receive approximately $7,000–$9,000 per year, depending on their child’s age and needs. If tuition exceeds ESA funding, families simply cover the remaining balance. We currently accept ESA payments through ClassWallet.

Lopez Academy is working to add Tax Credit Scholarship options in the future.

Which should I choose—ESA or scholarships?

Every family is different. Consider your expected funding, tuition costs, and what works best for your situation. ESA is often the simplest and most flexible option.

Can I apply for ESA now?

Yes. ESA applications are open year-round and can be completed online.

Is there an income limit?

No. ESA is available to all families.

Can different children in my family use different funding options?

Yes. Funding is based on the student, not the household.

Can I switch between ESA and scholarships?

You are allowed one switch per school year. However, once you leave ESA, you typically cannot reapply until the following year.

Can I use ESA and scholarships at the same time?

No. Only one funding source can be used per student, per quarter.

What happens if ESA doesn’t cover full tuition?

Families are responsible for any remaining balance.
